Southport, Gold Coast

A gym that's always buzzing with welcoming energy

That line is from a member's review, and it's the best description of the place. Guns At Dawn is a small fight and strength gym in a Windmill Street shed: a full-size ring, bags along the wall, barbells out the back and the same coach on the floor every day. No contracts sold at a front desk, no rows of treadmills. Just the work, done properly.

People come here to learn Muay Thai and boxing from the ground up, to get strong without getting hurt, or to train one-on-one at a time that fits around their day. Some drive down from Brisbane to do it.

What we train

Five ways to
get after it

Whether you've never put gloves on or you've been in the ring before, the session is built around where you're at. Beginners and experienced fighters train under the same roof.

  • 01

    Muay Thai

Pads, technique, clinch and ring time with a coach who holds pads himself. Reviews call Shaun an awesome pad holder, and members say sparring with him built their confidence in the ring.

  • 02

    Boxing

Hands, footwork and conditioning in a proper boxing ring. One member came back after many years away from the ring and was throwing kicks like it was natural within weeks.

  • 03

    Strength & Conditioning

Barbells, bags and the work that makes everything else easier. Programming with a real focus on injury prevention, so you keep training instead of sitting out.

  • 04

    Personal Training

One-on-one sessions prepared for you, not pulled from a template. Shaun accommodates whatever times you need to book in, from 6am starts to evening sessions.

  • 05

    Classes

Group sessions with that old school vibe members keep mentioning. Beginners train alongside experienced fighters and everyone is welcome.

The gym

A ring, some bags
and no nonsense

A full-size ring under steel trusses, red mats, gloves on the ropes and a bar out the back for after. Reviews call it well set out, clean, and in a good location.

โ€œEpic training! I Travel from Brisbane to train with Shaun! Shaun is super knowledgeable and is very diverse with his training. Got me back in the swing of things after many years away from the boxing ring and even had me throwing kicks like its natural. I strongly recommend him for beginners and also experienced gym goers and fighters.โ€
